You already made one (actually two) good point(s):

Two of the points I would make are already covered in your point:
- easy
- readable
- maintainable
My only "original" point is "easy".
Sean Reifschneider IIRC gave a talk on sysadmin at this year's Pycon.
That might be a resource if he's posted his slides.
