I'm aware of PIL[1], but have some vague perhaps wrong<br>
recollection that it is being replaced with something better.<br></blockquote><div><br></div><div>That would be pillow[1][2] which is a fork of PIL that promises faster bugfixing and a more open development model.</div><div>

<br></div><div>In reasonably current versions of Fedora and Ubuntu the package is "python-pillow" or "python3-pillow" or "python-pillow" and "python2-pillow" in ArchLinux, since Arch defaults to Python 3.</div>
