I pretty much gave up on XNA. There are a lot of good things about it, but not so much for Python programmers. Python games for XNA only work on Windows; because XBoxes don't ship with the full .NET API, you can't run your game on an XBox. I think pyglet and pygame are probably still the way to go for Python programmers interested in making games.
