Message-ID: Hi All - We successfully hired one of your own a couple months ago, thanks! We now have a 4 month project for 1-2 devs which will start in the next 30 days. Working in Python probably using Django. This would be building a new system from the ground up with all the fun things that entails. Below is our normal job advert for you to peruse. Our website is www.GetAdministrate.com. Thanks! John Peebles COO Administrate t: +44 800 170 7150 m: +44 (0)781 083 0419 www.getAdministrate.com Who We Are Administrate helps training providers run better businesses. We love how our products make our users?s lives and businesses better. The customer may not always be right, but they always deserve the best and we strive to deliver solutions that are second to none. We are also a real company, with an established global customer base, a solid core team and a clear vision of where we are going, and how we will get there. Who You Are You're passionate about what you do. Always searching for a challenge, always looking to improve, you broke your first computer exploring what made it tick, then you rebuilt it, better than it was before. Better...stronger...faster. You build your own great stuff for fun, but at work you choose standards and reuse, because teams are not just one person, and you don't reinvent the wheel. Do things once, if people think you're doing it twice, they are wrong, you scripted it weeks ago. You're striving for perfection, but grounded in reality, getting the job done comes first, but it's never something to hide behind, because you don't do 'ok'. If something sucks you say why, and how to sort it, it doesn't matter who's being stupid. You're honest to a fault. You love to work with smart people and hate mediocrity. Small teams, dynamic companies and flexible working environments are unparalleled. Bureaucracy is for someone else who likes wasting time and effort. Work hard. Work smart. What You'll Do Work on business critical applications with real customers around the world. We aren't building better social todo lists here, we do real software with real engineering. Develop solutions in a variety of languages and leading technologies. Our core system is PHP, but we use Python and even good old statically typed, complied languages where required. What You'll Get Something to talk about. Real programmers have stories about code, we have a 7 year old codebase. You will have stories, good ones about defeating dragons, saving distressed peasants and founding cities that reach to the sky. Real impact on our products. We are a team of equals, the best ideas wins, whomever has them. Paid, in real money, not promises, from an established company. It's an informal affair (because I still haven't got around to booking a venue for talks) - technical chat with beer (the beer is optional!). It's a good way to find out what your peers are up to in the local area. I shall attempt to remember to bring a printout of the Python logo so we can be identified by any newcomers. Hope to see you there! --Mark 1: http://www.bertsbar.co.uk/berts-bar/home/berts-bar-edinburgh.html -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I think the reason that you didn't get a response was because you didn't really provide enough information for anyone to help you effectively. Doing my best with the information you did give, I can tell you that the function 'Print_twice' is not a function provided as part of Python 2.x or 3.x. I'm guessing that you've missed something earlier on in the Python tutorial you're reading. You'll probably find that further up the page there was a function definition such as the following: def print_twice(msg): print msg print msg That function definition *creates* a function called print_twice, which you can then use in the way you described. If you are trying to learn Python and programming in general, the book Learning Python the Hard Way[1] is a good free resource, and the Khan Academy now teach Computer Science using Python[2]. I hope this helps, and wish you the best of luck with learning Python! --Mark 1: http://learnpythonthehardway.org/book/ 2: http://www.khanacademy.org/#computer-science On 24 August 2012 21:14, Hector Chapa wrote: > > I am a beginner at python why can I use this function. > > Print_twice(?Noe?) > > On python 2.XXX > > Is this a function for python3.XXX > > Please help me. > > > > Thanks, > > > > Hector Chapa > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Edinburgh mailing list > Edinburgh at python.org > http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/edinburgh > -- Mark Smith Practical Poetry - Software development done the right way.
