I'm getting in touch from a new company called Make It Social based in
Edinburgh.

We have a piece of software that has been recently built in Python and are
looking for a young Python developer who would be interested in joining a
young promising company. Our product has been built to stage 1 and has
already received a great deal of interest from some big companies in the
online travel industry, food ordering and ticketing industries.

You realise you have just made an illegal job advert by using the word
young to describe the type of developer you are looking for. I would
suggest you asked someone to delete this from the archives as you are
now open to claims from non young people who don't get to the
interview stage.

Hi Edinburgh Python Users!

The PyCon organizers are happy to announce that ticket sales for the March 2013 conference have opened at https://us.pycon.org/2013/registration/ ! Early bird rates are available for the first 1000 purchases, which is a departure from previous time-based systems. With PyCon 2012 having been a quick sell out, we're expecting this one to be the same. Keep in mind that attendance is strictly limited to 2500.

PyCon 2013 is going back to Santa Clara, CA before heading up north for two years in Montreal, Quebec for 2014-15. The event starts with two days of tutorials on March 13, followed by three days of talks starting March 15, and ends with four days of sprints starting March 18.

Individual and corporate ticket prices remain the same as they have been for the last few years, with early bird rates of $300 and $450 respectively. The regular rates of $350 and $600 for individual and corporate are still an incredible deal.

For 2013 we've reduced the cost to students by 50%, bringing the early bird rate to $100 with a regular rate of $125. Providing a more affordable conference experience for students is a priority for the organizers and the Python Software Foundation, and we're hoping the decrease helps bring more of them out.

Dear Python Edinburgh,

I hope you're enjoying PyCon so far!

I'm here with my colleagues John amd Celia from Evidence for Development, a small NGO that develops open-source software to manage and model data concerning people's livelihoods/incomes, standards of living and food security in developing countries - with the ultimate aims of assessing development projects, avoiding famines and improving people's economic well-being.

This software needs the input of enthusiastic programmers to help with its development, as we continue to make improvements to one programme and are more or less starting from scratch with another.

It would be great to discuss how your Python user group might be able to contribute to this exciting project. We'll be around PyCon until around 4pm tomorrow (Sunday), mainly in room ?CC1.2 - please pop in for a chat!
