We have a piece of software that has been recently built in Python and are looking for a young Python developer who would be interested in joining a young promising company. Our product has been built to stage 1 and has already received a great deal of interest from some big companies in the online travel industry, food ordering and ticketing industries. For the right individual, this is an opportunity to be part of something with global appeal. I don't know if there is anyone within your group who may be interested in this position but I would be very happy to meet and discuss the opportunity. If anyone interested could email me on eddie at makeitsocial.comor call 07920016588 that would be great. I would suggest you asked someone to delete this from the archives as you are now open to claims from non young people who don't get to the interview stage. http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?itemId=1073792251&r.i=1073792193&r.l1=1073858787&r.l2=1073877851&r.l3=1074003268&r.t=RESOURCES&type=RESOURCES From brian at python.org Thu Sep 20 23:23:48 2012 From: brian at python.org (Brian Curtin) Date: Thu, 20 Sep 2012 21:23:48 -0000 Subject: [Python Edinburgh] PyCon 2013 Ticket Sales Have Begun! Message-ID: Hi Edinburgh Python Users! The PyCon organizers are happy to announce that ticket sales for the March 2013 conference have opened at https://us.pycon.org/2013/registration/ ! Early bird rates are available for the first 1000 purchases, which is a departure from previous time-based systems. With PyCon 2012 having been a quick sell out, we're expecting this one to be the same. Keep in mind that attendance is strictly limited to 2500. PyCon 2013 is going back to Santa Clara, CA before heading up north for two years in Montreal, Quebec for 2014-15. The event starts with two days of tutorials on March 13, followed by three days of talks starting March 15, and ends with four days of sprints starting March 18. Individual and corporate ticket prices remain the same as they have been for the last few years, with early bird rates of $300 and $450 respectively. The regular rates of $350 and $600 for individual and corporate are still an incredible deal. For 2013 we've reduced the cost to students by 50%, bringing the early bird rate to $100 with a regular rate of $125. Providing a more affordable conference experience for students is a priority for the organizers and the Python Software Foundation, and we're hoping the decrease helps bring more of them out. We've also increased our financial aid program, and hope to assist more attendees for PyCon 2013! You can apply for financial aid through the new consolidated form at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&formkey=dGt4Z0dsY052VERJem4xUUFVQW9uQVE6MQ We're still accepting proposals for talks and tutorials, with a deadline of September 28. Poster proposals are accepted through January 15, 2013. For more information, see https://us.pycon.org/2013/speaking/cfp/ If your company is interested in sponsorship, we need you. Sponsors are what make PyCon a possibility, and sponsorship offers some great values to the generous organizations who support the conference. Check out https://us.pycon.org/2013/sponsors/whysponsor/ to find out what you get out of sponsorship, with a prospectus at https://us.pycon.org/2013/sponsors/prospectus/. Tomorrow night is our monthly pub meetup at Berts Bar[1] in the West End from 6:30. I'll book a table and bring a printout of the Python Logo for anyone new who won't have any other way of recognising us. I look forward to seeing you there - it's always a great night! --Mark 1: http://www.bertsbar.co.uk/berts-bar/home/berts-bar-edinburgh.html -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm here with my colleagues John amd Celia from Evidence for Development, a small NGO that develops open-source software to manage and model data concerning people's livelihoods/incomes, standards of living and food security in developing countries - with the ultimate aims of assessing development projects, avoiding famines and improving people's economic well-being. This software needs the input of enthusiastic programmers to help with its development, as we continue to make improvements to one programme and are more or less starting from scratch with another. It would be great to discuss how your Python user group might be able to contribute to this exciting project. We'll be around PyCon until around 4pm tomorrow (Sunday), mainly in room ?CC1.2 - please pop in for a chat! Thanks, Wolf -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
