PyCon 2014, taking place April 9-17 in Montreal, has just passed 1600 tickets sold, and we're seeing sales ramp up very quickly. Hello,

how did the pub meeting go ? Was looking forward to attend but had an
engagement.

I moved to Edinburgh from Portugal last September and before that was
part of the Python community there (in Porto), helping organize talks
(work in progress) and part of the speaker pool (definitely a work in
progress) and been meaning to get involved with the community here!

Too bad you couldn't make it. We had a fairly good turnout :)

Hello Pythonistas,

This is just a friendly reminder that we have a Pub Meetup on Tuesday. The
usual details apply - it's at Berts Bar [1] at 6:30pm. There will be a
printout of the Python logo on the end of the table to help anyone new
recognise us.

There's no agenda, and no minimum skill level - everyone is welcome. Use it
to chat about stuff you're interested in or ask questions about things you
want to know more about.

Hopefully i'll be able to attend today. As food for thought, something
i've been wondering recently is creating an open source web
alternative for a c/Profile visualization tool (processing and
charting .prof dumps).

There a few tools for that, some of which are not easy to install on
OSX/Windows and a web alternative would allow for example
collaboration:

- http://alleyoop.sourceforge.net
- http://www.open-works.net/projects/valkyrie.html
- http://www.vrplumber.com/programming/runsnakerun/

Some of the features i'd like to see on this tool would be:

- users and teams
- ability to create "projects" to aggregate dumps
- ability to associate machine hardware specs to dumps for context
- ability to chart perf data across several dumps (time series /
performance over time/multiple runs); others
- ability to export (download) data as CSV and most importantly, an
iPython notebook with static data in the first cell (for example) so
that it could be custom manipulated (matplottlib, so on) or even
pre-developed notebooks with charts already in place


I've been gathering opinions from people (i admit not being an
aggressive user of profiling) and feel free to reach me and comment
today!
