Hi all,
Myself and some others from this list have been working on a
publication, to be called the "Melbourne Python User's Letters," based
on the name of this user group. I have set up a blog for this
publication at http://mpul.blogspot.com/ to serve for marketing,
pre-releases, announcements, comment and feedback.
The intention is that the publication will be a mixture of responses by
developers to letters from python users -- such as perhaps many on this
list, and peer-reviewed articles. We have a dedicated editorial board,
and are keen to go the distance in making this publication high quality
in terms of content, appeal and presentation.
We will be nominating the publication for recognition as an academic
journal, and it is hoped that the mixture of accessible articles (code
and application reviews, announcements etc) and formal articles will
encourage a wide takeup.
I think this is a genuinely exciting project to be involved with, and
that we could use this as a vehicle for giving something back to the
Python community. It would be fantastic to have the active involvement
of this list in helping to spread the work, provide feedback and
comment, plus requests for articles etc.
At this stage we are hoping to have the first issue published by 1
September, and to immediately start preparations for a second issue. We
look forward to your involvement.
Cheers,
-T (Editor, MPUL)
