Good stuff! I added a number of suggested edits to help polish the verbiage or highlight certain features. I added a link to the workshop materials on github. Overall, this feels like it is pretty close to publishable. chalmer On Fri, Apr 28, 2017 at 8:38 AM Ewa Jodlowska wrote: > Hey team - > > Has anyone had a chance to review Kushal's blog? > > Best regards, > > Ewa > Director of Operations > Python Software Foundation > Cell: 415-319-5237 <(415)%20319-5237> > > On Fri, Apr 21, 2017 at 3:27 PM, Ewa Jodlowska wrote: > >> Hey Kushal, >> >> Thanks for making more edits! >> >> I went through the draft and made some grammar edits. Please come. The point of the workshop is to help attendees learn valuable skills and tools, such as: * git > version control * virtual environments > project separation/isolation * github > code sharing * and more These skills should be considered fundamental to good programming and analysis, because git and virtualenvs, in particular, help you avoid problems down the road with your own code EVEN if you never share your code online or collaborate on code with others. It just so happens that these OR similar skills are also necessary to participate in open source (whether you do it at Pycon or from the comfort of your home). The workshop is designed to present you with multiple opportunities to do hands-on so you can try this out in a safe environment with mentors and coaches standing by to assist when you encounter hurdles. So yes, come, learn, enjoy. Stay for as long as you can. Message-ID: Hi everyone, Thanks for all your work organizing the sprints! The room we were in today (B116) was a bit too cold and had wifi bandwidth issues; it felt like we were losing contributors due to those issues. Any ideas on how we could solve the temperature and wifi issues for tomorrow? We would be happy to move rooms, but weren't sure where we should go. We are a fairly large group (around 50 people steady state today, and expecting the same tomorrow). Are there any rooms that you think could fit another 50 people tomorrow, or would be able to do so with some shuffling? We could also split our group into two if that would be easier. Thanks! Message-ID: One of our attendees supplied this feedback about the Intro to Sprinting workshop: * in a comment * on a pull request * in github * that they successfully initiated Woot! We also collected some feedback via the 'dead-tree' method. I will memorialize that and provide later, but wanted to get this in your hands. All told, we had approximately 80 attendees AND 20 mentors. Asheesh Laroia deserves mad kudos for his support: * he helped me finalize some last minute changes on Sunday * he helped run the event and injected the right comments at the right times * he taught me several really good tips/tricks for trying to keep the pace AND ensure that folks are tuned in. Thanks to Ewa and Pycon Leadership for the chance to run this event and for the support (rooms, logistics, snacks, etc). chalmer -- Chalmer Lowe, MS *PyHawaii* >> https://www.meetup.com/PyHawaii-Python-Users-Group/ *Dark Art of Coding* >> https://darkartofcoding.com *Booz Allen Hamilton* >> http://www.boozallen.com *Python Education Summit* >> https://us.pycon.org/2017/speaking/education-summit/ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
