Bug #110659, was updated on 2000-Jul-31 14:11
Here is a current snapshot of the bug.
Project: Python
Category: IDLE
Status: Closed
Resolution: Later
Bug Group: Feature Request
Priority: 3
Summary: IDLE-0.5 copy command (PR#354)
Details: Jitterbug-Id: 354
Submitted-By: gpk@bell-labs.com
Date: Tue, 13 Jun 2000 10:05:35 -0400 (EDT)
Version: 1.6a2+
OS: Solaris sparc 2.6
Alt-w is advertised to copy the selected text.
It doesn't. It pops up the 'window' menu.
However, even if you are in the 'edit' menu,
alt-w apparently does nothing.
I can select text, do alt-E alt-W, move the pointer,
then do ctrl-Y, and nothing pops up.
By the way, 'ctl-U ctl-U ctl-S' is an absurdly long
sequence for something as common as searching for text.

Comment:
This is still broken in IDLE 0.6 in Python 2.0. I doubt that I'll have time to fix it -- the keyboard bindings in general are utterly weird and inconsistent.
So I'll add an item to PEP-42 (the wish-list) and close this bug report.
