Preamble<br>
So often, despite being considered “digital natives,†today’s youth interact with media and technology as consumers rather than as creators. They share on social media, click around on games and apps, but they play no role in designing the platforms themselves. While students may know how to use technology, they lose the opportunity to develop as computational thinkers if they are not themselves creating it. The Hacksas Meetups are designed to support teachers in understanding how to implement creative computing practices in their classrooms, so that students of all backgrounds and levels of experience can engage with technology as creators.<br>

Hacksas Meetups Mission<br>
The mission of Hacksas Meetups is to offer educators a free professional learning environment in which they can share, play, create, and learn together in the service of democratizing access to creative computing education. Meetups do this by supporting educators’ understandings of: (1) computation as a medium for creative expression, and (2) pedagogical approaches that support creative work in the classroom.<br>

What Happens at Meetups?<br>
Here is what our meetups generally look like: <br>
1. We start with networking over light refreshments, getting to know fellow attendees and sharing what people want to explore during the meetup.<br>
2. We collaboratively decide how to structure our learning and then form small groups based on our different interests. Maybe you want to have a discussion about classroom strategies or get more practice with scratched—or something else entirely. Feel free to move between groups if the session that you're in isn't working for you.<br>
3. We gather as a whole group for lunch and group sharing. You might pose a question to discuss with the group, or share something from your classroom. This is a great time to inspire and be inspired.<br>
