[soc2008-general] bringing in new mentors

Several of my former undergraduates are interested in becoming
mentors; only one of them is an SoC alumnus, but they all have
a solid Python background.  IIRC, lack of qualified mentors was
a bottleneck last year; should I encourage them to post to this
list to introduce themselves, or wait 'til it's time to put up
project proposals, or...?
