If you can come with a precise list, that would be useful. There are 
risks to any project, and for such a project, one risk is that somebody
fixes the problem before you do. Having an explicit list helps to
manage and estimate that risk.

If you don't just want to fix bugs, but also evolve the component
in different ways, you should mention what precisely you want to
achieve.

Giving more explicit advise is difficult without knowing what components
you want to work on.
