Hi, Jeff,
apologies for the slow response; I had to scramble to write down a bunch
of stuff that has been going around in e-mail :)

I think the single biggest group of subproject ideas that is not being
integrated into a GSoC application already is the pygr.Data stuff. We
can find a mentor for whatever project you come up with, and overlap in
projects is not necessarily a problem -- there's plenty of work to go
around.
