Hello,
I joined the mailing list today only.

Sebastian had written sometime ago in this mailing list on.

"However,
<http://svn.python.org/view/python/trunk/Lib/urllib2.py?rev=60648&view=log>
suggests that if any work was done on this, it hasn't made it into mainline.
Is there some specific reason these proposals didn't work out? Is this
insufficiently ambitious (in expected necessary effort) to be approved?
Is it too ambitious? Was there work done on this, and there's some
specific reason it never made it into mainline?

Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Before giving this a try of my
own, I'd really like to know what happened to those who tried before me.
"

Sebastian, to give you some update. It was I who undertook the project
and moved ahead it with it. But you are right, the module urilib has
not been pushed to mainline trunk yet.

But with whatever changes I had made to urilib, all those were
supplied as patches to urllib2.

This year, I have submitted my proposal on the same work again, with
the timeline for completion and making the new module available before
the Python 2.6 and Python 3K time line.

It is upon the mentors to discuss my proposal now and there is an
activity already initiated by Brett Cannon in Web-SIG.

If the mentors is list can view my urilib proposal, would like to
provide any feedback on it?

Thank you,
Senthil
