Responses to my requests to this mailing list

I have learned in the last 30 minutes or so that there are responses to my requests to this mailing list. The page I had been solely reliant upon, showing the latest post, does not allow me to see any of these responses, so I had concluded - with disappointment - that there were none. I now know better and apologise for having given the impression that I was ignoring advice I had previously been given. Perhaps it is self-evident to everybody else that I should have been referring to the 'recent activity' page - but it wasn't to me. So perhaps one might draw a conclusion about the end-user effectiveness of this this mailing-list system by 'HyperKitty' - hmm ?

Mailing list are a quit old communication technology existent long before the internet was invented. Today it is mixed up with websites and web-frontends like hellokitten what cause confusions. My advice is not to use the mailing lists website but just use your usual Email software (Thunderbird, Claws mail, Outlook, ...). Look for a "sort by thread" or "discussion view" option in your software. Then you will have a tree like view of all mails belonging to the related discussion on the mailing list. Kind Christian

Christian, I quite understand the 'heritage' of mailing systems - I've been around since before they were - you have no idea howmethods of coummincation wre in the last 1950s when I first got involved with what we now call IT. I would most definitely prefer to use email rather than a mailing list; indeed my current preference is Thunderbird - it used to be Claws but I found that a bit too technical. Any system which is client based will do; I prefer them to web-mail. However, I thought I had been admonished, by email, not to use email?
