I don't think you can unset a value. You can override it from the
command line though
$ python setup.py install --prefix=xxx
But if you need to ignore the "prefix" option, I think you need to
write your own install
command to override this behavior.

Is there any way, when you have a setting in distutils.cfg, to unset that value? For instance, if you've set:
[install] prefix = something
Is there a way to get distutils to ignore this setting? Setting it to the empty string doesn't seem to do it, and I don't know of any other way.
