Dear Distutils-sig,
I would like to install Python's distutils, but do not have write permission in the Python installation directory on my system. The README file in the distutils distribution does not tell me how to install elsewhere, and I am too much of a novice at Python to figure out what to change otherwise. Can you tell me how to install distutils in a user directory and use it from there? Thanks.

View the USAGE file. Near the end it tells how. It'll be a command similar to: setup.py -v install --prefix=/home/greg --exec-prefix=/home/greg If /home/greg was where you wanted to install to. -- Curtis Jensen cjensen@be-research.ucsd.edu http://www-bioeng.ucsd.edu/~cjensen/ FAX (425) 740-1451
