Aren't you really asking for a final 0.6 release?
I am a bit lost in the versions in setuptools,
the current trunk is flagged 0.7a1 so I don't really know what will be the revision of the next public release..
I didn't realize you were using the trunk: I thought you were using the head of the 0.6 branch, which also has the fix for the SVN 1.5 issue. I think we should just release 0.6 and be done with it, and then go on to working on the next release (which should probably be 1.0, or something). We can always release a 0.6.1 for any problems which show up later, but getting people unstuck on the SVN bug should happen now. IMNSHO, of course. :) Tres. - -- =================================================================== Tres Seaver +1 540-429-0999 tseaver@palladion.com Palladion Software "Excellence by Design" http://palladion.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFI060i+gerLs4ltQ4RAmtnAJ0VEMatwy/fvRxR2uK1NIw04Znp4gCgmtsq s6D3/xHnjqL38MT9YoZmDgI= =tVBV -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

It's been almost a year since Jim's question on the development process: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.python.distutils.devel/5434 I think we are well past time to declare 0.6 done (maybe even make *it* 1.0, given how widespread the use is), and then work on new features for another release.
+1 on making the current trunk 1.x
That would be OK with me, too, as long as we release what we have now. In fact, if you go 0.6c8 to 1.0 instead of going to 0.6, I know I'll be happy as the package maintainer in Fedora/EPEL. As far as RPM is concerned, 0.6 is less than 0.6c8, so I'd have to do creative/gross things with epoch inflation just to make the package update smoothly to 0.6 final. Just a note from the sidelines. :) Cheers, -- Konstantin Ryabitsev Montréal, Québec
