Hi all --

I've just checked in Rene's rather hefty patch to collapse a bunch of mostly-redundant 'link_*()' methods in the various CCompiler classes into one 'link()'. This is big enough to warrant a whole new code snapshot, so I put one out: two-and-a-half releases in one day, a personal record! ;-)

It works for me building a few things on my Linux box; please try it out on other platforms (especially with a variety of compilers on Windows) and let me know how it goes. Thanks.
