setuptools bug report: include_package_data is on by default if there is a find-files plugin?
Folks: If my setuptools_darcs plugin [1] is installed, then all files under revision control get included in packages, even if include_package_data=True was not passed. I'm going to leave my README.txt claiming that this argument is necessary, under the hypothesis that this is a bug. Regards, Zooko [1] http://pypi.python.org/pypi/setuptools_darcs

By "included in packages", do you mean included in eggs and installed, or do you mean included in source distributions?

I meant the latter -- I didn't test the former. Regards, Zooko

That's "as intended" -- a source distribution always includes all the source, whether the files in question will be installed or not.
