If you want this shouldn't you just distribute the .pyc or .pyo files? It's false security to think that people won't be able to get at your sources if the .py files are part of the distribution...
It's arguably false security to think that sufficiently determined people won't be able to get at your .pys if you distribute only your .pycs...
