See https://docs.python.org/3/library/fileinput.html#fileinput.input and https://docs.python.org/3/library/shelve.html#shelve.Shelf for example. In this case, the documentation already explains what the context manager does after the with block finishes (it also explains the behavior on success and error) with a detailed example. My message focussed on the closing aspect because that was my problem. :) Maybe the wording should be more general like: - "Note that this does not automatically call :meth:`close` on the connection object." + "Note that this does not automatically handle the connection object." Documentation bug

Hello, In the "Default Memory Allocators" section of the "Memory Management" page ( https://docs.python.org/3.8/c-api/memory.html#default-memory-allocators ) the last entry in first table ("Default memory allocators") appears to be incorrect. Instead of the "Configuration column" reading "Release build, without pymalloc" it should read "Debug build, without pymalloc" for that last entry. As currently written the "Configuration" name of the third and fourth entries is the same, though the 4th entry is a debug build that includes the " + debug" versions of the allocators. [issue25514] Improve IDLE's "subprocess didn't make connection" message

Reedy <tjreedy(a)udel.edu> added the comment: Module shadowing can affect either the gui process or the run process. #34584 was the latter: debug_obj imports rpc imports socket imports selectors imports math, which was shadowed. Pyshell starts run. If run starts OK but cannot connect to pyshell, it displays a 'subprocess cannot connect' message, which now refers to the new doc section, and exits. If pyshell does does get a connection, it currently displays "Subprocess Startup Error", "IDLE's subprocess didn't make connection. Either IDLE can't " "start a subprocess or personal firewall software is blocking " "the connection.", This also needs revision, with a reference to the doc section.
