I am unable to reproduce the issue, here's what I tried:

     printf '\x00'  > file.py
     python3 -m idlelib file.py

and got no crash.

Can you please open an issue on `bugs.python.org` by telling which
version of Python you are using, on which OS, which OS version, and if
possible the file containing the \x00 in case it contain something else
causing the issue.
