On http://docs.python.org/py3k/whatsnew/3.0.html it is mentioned that % may get deprecated for string formatting in 3.1. This seems to not be the case, as even in 3.3, there's no indication of it getting deprecated, and while I haven't checked the mailing lists (google doesn't like searching for %), but that should be fixed to reflect the current plans. -- George-Cristian Bîrzan
