-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Today the BBC announced the MicroBit (part designed by PSF fellow Michael Sparks) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31834927. About 1 million of these small programmable devices will be given away to 11-12 year olds starting their secondary education at the start of the UK's next academic year in September. Python is one of the three languages that work with the device. The PSF is involved in helping to generate community sourced Python resources for the project and we hope the MicroBit will be a big part of PyconUK's education track (taking place at the end of September). In addition to the BBC article above, the Guardian gives a good summary and mentions the PSF here: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/mar/12/bbc-micro-bit-raspberry-pi I have an alpha-version of the device sitting on my desk and my impression is that kids will have a *lot* of fun. Think Pythonic blinkenlights, buttons, bluetooth and IO. Yay! Best wishes, Nicholas. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJVAcRuAAoJEP0qBPaYQbb6kB0H/3UA7NGgdHOYQ8Xe0UHcA+Kg f6eyl9dMALcolbKBlbNROhDkoBosY1AmzNQ8HgcoWXpuFTXvREL67/KDk3WNs09s /52hDLqug0zgeIclYbT61OuJZnmLiSTh3bjEB6nXZFhXlPuMLDvSXojryOQEnQwh D/M5nees9VoVzWcuamrTEQ6ug1PDGykIehVMamHaJ8/RuGglcBvygrKtm2KvYK0M Sb3nhvuJC+Yjao2YuKl+AmgHQUAAV61QYMDgYDxqQX/eKkF9eId6NqeWaxjpULbf NOHe+LKK+AuAwaJoZiWQaKDG/uuOcJxiGmbzqI8lgPn2ALoZyEnDM+7E6mkegg8= =NmJM -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
