Hi everyone 👋 I’m Umesh Gupta, a final-year B.Tech CSE student from India. I’m exploring Google Summer of Code 2026 and I’m really interested in contributing to Python and Python-based projects. My work so far involves building full-stack and ML-driven applications using Python. I’ve worked on projects like medical image classification, NLP-based systems, and web platforms using Flask/Django, along with databases and cloud deployment. I’m comfortable reading large codebases, debugging issues, and iterating based on feedback. I’m here to learn how contributors usually get started and would really appreciate guidance on: Areas within the Python ecosystem that are good for first-time contributors Skills or types of contributions mentors usually look for before GSoC How to meaningfully engage with issues or discussions at this stage I’m motivated to contribute consistently and grow as a long-term open-source contributor, not just for GSoC.
