Minutes of the Sunday meeting

Hi, we have PyCon India volunteer meeting on Sunday. The following people were present. * Hari * Abdul Rauf * Sandeep (PESIT) * Vijesh (PESIT) * Bhimsen (PESIT) * Jnanadagar (PESIT) * Anand M (Mahiti) * Anand Chitipothu We've discussed about video recording, swag kit and the tasks at the venue just before the event. Anand M is the administrator of Mahiti and he is overseeing the accounts of IPSS. Jnanasagar is taking care of the swag kit. He spoke to the vendor and got a quote for notebooks. Anand M give his a cheque for placing an order. We need to collect the notebooks, pens and folders on Thursday evening from the vendor. Sandeep said he can take care of printing banners etc. We've hired three people for doing the video recording, but we have 4 rooms so we need some help with one room. Vijesh and Bhimsen will help with video recording and registrations. Hari helped at one of the hasgeek's events with video recording. I've requested him to help us at PyCon India as well and he came forward. The caterer also came to look at the venue and decide how to place the table etc. Anand

Some more things that can be added to the FAQs. Satyakam/Palak, can you please take care of this? > Do you have Laptop charging sockets in the room for all? > My laptop doesn't give more than an hour of backup. We will have limited laptop charging points in the rooms. But we'll try to provide a some tables with lot of charging points somewhere at the venue. > Will the Internet and WiFi setup be good enought for the large crowd? Is it advisable to get datacards? We have a good wifi setup, but only a 4MBPS line. If you have a data card, you should bring it along. > Is there an arrangement made for the Tutorial and Conference videos > record/Live Streaming? We are video recording all the tutorials and talks. We won't be live streaming them, but we'll upload them within a week. > It is possible to watch the vidoes live? Live watching will not be possible, but they'll be able to watch it after couple of days. > Can I attend all the talks/tutorials? > I see in your Pycon Schedule there are 5 rooms - A1, A2, A3, B1, B2. Is it possible to attend all the talks/tutorials? No, there are 5 parallel tracks for tutorials and 4 parallel tracks for talks. It is not possible to attend all of them. However, you'll be able watch them later as we are recording all the talks and tutorials. Thanks, Anand

Is it possible to cancel my tickets?* *A.* Do you really want to cancel tickets? PyCon India happens once a year and we are willing to meet you, share ideas and collaborate. If indeed you want to cancel tickets, then the answer is Yes. All you need to do is send an email to tickets(a)in.pycon.org with the Order No. you received and the name of the attendee. *Q. Do I need to register for tutorials separately?* *A.* Yes. *Q. I didn't register for the tutorials when I bought the ticket. How do I add tutorial option to my ticket now?* *A.* If you forgot to register for tutorial when you bought the ticket(s), you can do so now. Visit http://pyconindia2012.doattend.com/get_addons. You will need your Ticket Number that will be present in the ticket emailed to you, and, Email Address that you used while registering for the PyCon India 2012. *Q. Does tutorial speakers need to register for tutorials?* *A.* No. If you have already registered, please email tickets(a)in.pycon.orgfor processing refund. *Q. Can I register directly at the venue?* *A.* Yes, you certainly can. However, we would recommend that you do it now as at venue registration will be Rs. 1500 for conference and 500 for tutorials. And moreover, you may be in a loss as we can not guarantee t-shirts for at venue registrations. *Q. Do you provide accommodation for participants from other cities?* *A.* No. But we can assist you in finding the accommodation near the Venue. *Q. Internet connectivity

Hello everyone, I've been trying to get a high speed BSNL line at the conference venue for internet connectivity. I was asking them for a 50MBPS line, but they said that they can only give a 100MBPS line, which costs about 85K. Apart from that we'll have to pay another 30K for cable cost. A total of 1.2 Lakhs approx. HasGeek is already offering us their 4MBPS airtel connection. We tried to upgrade it to 8/16 MBPS but it turned out that it is not feasible. I might be possible to live with 4MBPS line, but if that fails, we'll be completely in trouble. But paying 1.2Lakhs for internet looks a bit too expensive. What do you guys think? Anand
