Volunteer Required for Dev sprint
Hi, We need volunteers to co-ordinate to conduct Dev sprint in PyCon India 2015. During Dev sprint the participants will be working and sending patches to open source projects. The responsibilities of the volunteers are: 1. Know the flow of the open source project/sprints. [optional] 2. Filter out good projects for the Dev sprint. 3. Finding more regular upstream contributors who can help the participants to send patches in dev sprint. 4. Follow up with the participants and mentors prior to the dev sprint to complete the pre-requisites. 5. Should be present on the workshop day on ground and 1 day before the workshop day. 6. Time to meet once a month till the event day to plan out the events for the next month. Remote participants will be joining us online. Time required Initially 1-2 hours per week, later on 2-3 hours per day (Last week of conference). Anyone interested? I think it would be better to keep the plan as an open discussion first on the mailing list and meetups, get a sense of how to organize it and then get volunteers. My suggestion stems from my doubt - Has there been any progress regarding the discussion of the schedule of the dev sprint? As in, are we going to have it in parallel to the conference and workshop on all the three days in a separate room? Or is it going to be on a separate day, etc? Regards, -- Haris Ibrahim K. As per discussion on volunteer meetup on Saturday, the plan is to run dev sprint on workshop day only. On Mon, Apr 27, 2015 at 10:41 PM, Haris Ibrahim K. V. <blucalvin@gmail.com> wrote:

With my personal experience of running PyCon US sprints, I can say that it will be really confusing for new people. We know that most of the participants will be new devels anyway. It is always better to put something like devsprints into a separate day, and make sure that people know about it, and do their travel arrangements based on the dates. We got sufficient number of interested people to volunteer. So we are taking the form offline and not accepting any more submissions. -- Sayan Chowdhury, Artisan sayanchowdhury.dgplug.org | sayan.chowdhury2012@gmail.com
