Hello everyone, I'm afraid that due to some personal matters, I'll have to pull back a little from PyCon India this year. I'm not sure if I'll be able to show up for the event either since Septmber is going to be rather tight for me. I've sent the financial calculations and a rudimentary sponsorship brochure in a separate email. I have a list of companies who I approached in the US who might be interested in sponsoring the event if we move quickly enough. I also have a list of people who are willing to come as keynote speakers if we can contact them and finalise the dates and other things quickly. If someone else can take the reigns, I can send introductory emails etc. Thanks! -- ~noufal http://nibrahim.net.in "Professional certification for car people may sound like an oxymoron." -The Wall Street Journal, page B1, Tuesday, July 17, 1990.
Dear Noufal, This is very sad news for PyCon. You have been putting lot of personal energy to make it work. I will happy share the offline activities and pursue them with your guidance and advise, but i think you should not skip the event. Do something man! - sree On 20 April 2012 01:52, Noufal Ibrahim <noufal@gmail.com> wrote:

I think I can take this up. Since I was with you when we discussed with potential sponsors and keynote speakers, I know the context well. Anand

[...] Cool. I'll give you all the cards and stuff which we collected. -- ~noufal http://nibrahim.net.in I'm proud of my humility.
I am willing to take up the work for any one area of the conference. One of the areas like sponsorship, overseas delegate co-ordination, program management, portal management, etc. Regards, Lakshman On Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 9:13 AM, Anand Chitipothu <anandology@gmail.com>wrote:

That would be real unfortunate :(

I would like to contribute on the sponsorship packages front. Have not
been able to review the information Noufal has sent. Unfortunately spending almost every waking hour on a task that finishes this 24th. Would request that I get some time to review it and revert 25th night. I noticed some comments about there being a upper limit on the number of sponsorship packages. Just as an example I had strongly felt any such limits are likely to be counterproductive. I shall help push forward the overall sponsorship discussion post 25th.

[...] Makes sense. I didn't incorporate the collated feedback which you sent from last years event. I just wanted to get the ball rolling. My main reason for the modular thing was that people have specific needs and we price things based on their popularity. They get to pick and choose, we throw in a few freebies based on how much they're giving us and it's a sponsorship package. They also have some control on exactly how much they want to spend. -- ~noufal http://nibrahim.net.in We must believe in free will. We have no choice. -Isaac B. Singer
Hi Noufal, Sorry to see you take a back-seat. I just wanted to point out that we are almost in mid-May and I don't see much activity yet on this mailing list. Is there another place that everything is happening ? Some pune related mailing list perhaps ? If so kindly let this list know because there are still a few of us keyed in here looking for updates. Thanks --Anand On Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 11:06 AM, Noufal Ibrahim <noufal@gmail.com> wrote:

You will be sorely missed... I have also been busy with something that gets done by 22nd, after which we can co-ordinate and ensure that all the pieces get picked up and work starts in earnest... navin
