Status Update PyCon India 2024
Hi everyone, Been a while since the last update on the mailing list, so please consider this as a consolidated update. In case you want to see week by week updates, it's available on our planning doc[1]. We've 2 confirmed Keynote Speakers so far. Kovid Goyal[2] and James Powell[3]. Planned on having 2 more. We have been reaching out to close this soon as possible. We received 300 talks and 57 workshop proposals this year. The workshops have been reviewed and selected speakers are being contacted. The talk reviews are in progress at the moment and we hope to announce the final schedule by mid August. Posters and BoF CFP are still open in case someone wants to submit for it. We sold out all our tickets quite early this year. Much faster than we anticipated. Congrats to everyone who got a ticket already. The cancellations are open right now though. So, in case your plans have changed, feel free to follow the steps as mentioned here[4] for cancellation. Do note that there's a time limit beyond which we can not cancel your tickets. We've a few confirmed sponsors already, mostly platinum and silver. But we still have Gold and Associate Sponsor slots open, so in case your organisation might be interested in sponsoring, please feel free to share the sponsorship prospectus[5] with them or connect with our sponsorship workgroup volunteers. We've also submitted a grant request with PSF. We're also looking to connect with more Transcribers/Stenographers[6]. So, if you know someone who can help, feel free to send them our way, or let us know where might be a good place to start. Finalised on booth and AV equipment vendor this week and also been checking goodies samples and t-shirts from various vendors. These are still under consideration, but we've decided to prefer a local city vendor than any outstation vendor to accommodate last minute requests. We've also been putting all the weekly calls on youtube which you can find under a single playlist[6]. If you wish to join one or more of the volunteer calls, feel free to add the public calendar[7] so you can stay updated about the same.
