Kenneth, please fix this ASAP. This change broke all the earlier URLs and page rank of the website will go down because of this. Anand

what is the future of this site? I personally feel that inpycon should get a vps of it's own and host this and subsequent sites - we have funds for a couple of years at least. Later we could go for a dedicated server. If we have a vps dedicated to the conference then we can indulge in the luxury of having more than one server admin, which will prevent the failure that due to us having the single point of failure stuck in a car in Mandya in the rain. -- regards Kenneth Gonsalves Senior Project Officer NRC-FOSS http://nrcfosshelpline.in/web/

The plan is to freeze the contents and generate static html. Hosting static html requires a lot less maintenance than running a web application. Anand

I dont think static html is a nice idea. if all content have permalinks, then stick to that, i'd suggest that we shift the site web faction....

Why is it a bad idea? The links will continue to stay the same even after converting to static html.
Can someone take care of taking the site software offline and converting it into static pages? Thanks. -- ~noufal http://nibrahim.net.in
I've crawled http://in.pycon.org site and processed the files to fix links. Preview of that is available at: http://pyconindia.anandology.com Some pages are missing from http://in.pycon.org website which were used to exist before. http://in.pycon.org/2009/base/Important%20Dates/ http://in.pycon.org/2009/base/Site%20Howto/ http://in.pycon.org/2009/base/Call%20for%20Proposals/ http://in.pycon.org/2009/base/Sponsors%20for%20the%20Event/#zeomega Some of them are present in google cache still. http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:8SdVEku7CboJ:in.pycon.org/2009/base/Site... http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:DhykNbGBbngJ:in.pycon.org/2009/base/Call... Kenneth, can you please fix them soon? Also please provide me dump of the database and tarball of code running the website so that I can archive it permanently. Anand

Kenneth, can you give Anand these things? We can take the site offline from your server then and archive the content. Thanks -- ~noufal http://nibrahim.net.in

bug fixed -- regards Kenneth Gonsalves Senior Project Officer NRC-FOSS http://nrcfosshelpline.in/web/
I've changed IP address of in.pycon.org to point to my server. Now in.pycon.org is serving static content. http://in.pycon.org/2009/ login, signup and managetalks links won't work anymore. I'll try to add placeholder pages for those links. I've archived the content and current version of the code. http://in.pycon.org/archives/2009/ It has: code.tgz - current version of fossconf code content.tgz - all the website content smedia.tgz - smedia sent by Kenneth, it seems to have some more files than http://in.pycon.org/2009/smedia/. I've archived this just to be sure of not loosing any files. Anand

keep the server running for one more day. The DNS changes takes sometime to propagate. Anand

Yes. I think it is because it doesn't have any inward link. Not even from http://in.pycon.org/2009/posts/ page. Can you keep your server available on some URL, so that I can download that page? Anand

It will probably get a server of it's own. Till then, it would be nice if the URLs and stuff were maintained. -- ~noufal http://nibrahim.net.in
