The idea behind having keynote speaker as lady is diversity.
What i meant with above line was It would be great to have them here in InPyCon as keynote speaker and hear their experience which will encourage a lot of female developers in India and also their inputs on solving the diversity issues what we face will help us a lot. I think we need to have one Indian origin keynote who understand ground problems and his keynote will big boost for our audience , that was the whole reason we started with Indian origin Keynote speaker concept 2 years back. if required we can think to invite 2 foreign keynote speaker depending on budget and their availability.

I agree with Noufal here. We shouldn't be restricting ourselves to Indians or people in any other geography because we host the conference here. If we see pycons around the world, generally the keynote speakers are people who have done something great with python or the comunity and that should be the reason. For eg. Pycon Singapore may not have a keynote speaker from Singapore (Andrew Godwin, Lynn Root & Jessica McKellar this year), but people who have been involved with Python Community or done something good for it. I think the theme of the conference is Python first & keynote speakers who can set the tone & inspire us to do something good with Python should be the choice. -- Abhishek

IMHO, you may not get too many names than what you already got. So this direction looks pointless, especially for Indian contributers. Filter out from the list of names already proposed and start efforts to contact them in some announced order of preference- this is what I would do rather than prolonging the discussions here. Rest of the discussions are kind of academic at this point.

The Indian Key note speaker concept was introduced in 2013. I went back to archives to find the criteria for this, unfortunately there was no conditions discussed. I was astonished Indian Key note speaker was declared without any discussion in the ML [1], [2]. I called up chair of 2013 and asked how it was decided. The co chair ran the name with contact list and it was decided over phone calls. Even last year there was no discussion on criteria.
