ISBG Revival and Relicensing for Inclusion in Debian
Hello Roger, I hope you don't mind the familiar salutation. I discovered ISBG a couple months ago and it's about to become a pillar of the mail system at the university department I work at. This has also led to me extensively rewrite ISBG to turn it into a proper python module and some additional functionality to support my usecase. All of the ugly IMAP interaction already having been done was a great help in getting things up and running :-) You can see that work here: https://github.com/isbg/isbg/tree/v.2.0 I joined baldurmen/pollo and ook as maintainer of ISBG and we would now like to change the license from your "whatever OSI license" statement to GPLv3 so it can be packaged - pollo would like to package it for debian. pollo's theory is that since ISBG is licensed as "whatever OSI license" that means we're free to "fork" the project and make our fork and all additional work GPLv3. I understand the logic of that theory but I find it a little bit dubious - licenses like "WTFPL" are often seen as not being a legally valid license at all, and "whatever OSI license" is pretty close - and therefore I would like to ask for your explicit blessing to make the project GPLv3. Best regards and thank your for your time, Luke (duk3luk3 on github)
