Thanks for this information. If conda works for everybody (as it seems), I propose to phase out homebrew and macports: less maintenance for us. As a first step, we could replace homebrew/macports by conda in the installation instructions. (There is no need to actually remove the homebrew/macports repositories of course.) Does anyone see any problems with this? Couldn't conda be used for Windows as well? That's another OS where the installation could be simplified.
