Dear Kwant developer, I have installed recently kwant on an Ubuntu system following the instruction in the installation page. I noted that the python used is python 3.4.3. Is there anyway to replace it with python 3.5 or above without installing from the source? Dear KS Chan, On Linux and Mac OS, you can use Kwant with newer Python version without compiling anything by using conda, as described here: https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/pipermail/kwant-discuss/2016-February/0... Dear Anton, Thank you very much for the information. Do I need to remove the 3.4 version first? For windows, I did not remove the old system and installed the new system side by side. Dear KS, No, you don't have to do that. conda isolates its libraries, and therefore it doesn't matter. Note that kwant is not available within conda on windows. Best, Anton On Wed, Apr 26, 2017 at 12:33 PM, Prof. CHAN Kwok Sum <apkschan@cityu.edu.hk> wrote:

You can follow the instructions at the bottom of the Debian section of the installation instructions [1] to build your own source packages. This is technically compiling from source, but it's a straightforward sequence of a few commands. Installing conda will give you a completely separate Python distribution, which is what you may or may not prefer. Christoph [1] https://kwant-project.org/install#debian-and-derivatives
