up/down spin conductance from Greens function like smatrix
Dear Sir, In the new version of Kwant, it is possible to calculate the up and down spin conductance. In order to calculate the different components of the spin conductance (G_x,G_y,G_z), Greens function can be used as shown in the following mail-archive link:https://www.mail-archive.com/kwant-discuss@kwant-project.org/msg00483.html If I want to calculate the quantities like G_x^up or G_x^down, is it possible to calculate these with Greens function like the smatrix. Another question I want to ask (forgive me if it is out of the context). We can calculate the zero temperature charge shot-noise using the kwant.physics.two_terminal_shotnoise. Is there any option to calculate the spin shot-noise? With Regards, Sudin Ganguly
Dear Sudin,
It is definitely possible to compute all the desired properties using the
Green's function formalism. Moreover since the Green's function is in the
basis that you specify when providing the Hamiltonian, you don't even need
any special machinery, and you can just apply the definition on your own.
Regarding the noise: there is indeed only a reference implementation of a
2-terminal shot noise. We would welcome contributions from the community
generalising that code to multiterminal situation (I believe the spin shot
noise is a particular case of multiterminal shot noise).
Best,
Anton

Dear Sir, Thank you for the reply. However, the three lines given below is required to compute the spin polarized conductance. ttdagger = G._a_ttdagger_a_inv(lead_out, lead_in) sigma_z_matrix = numpy.kron(np.eye(attdagger.shape[0]//2), sigma) return np.trace(sigma_z_matrix.dot(ttdagger)).real I want to calculate the spin polarized conductance between up/down left lead and up/down right lead. My question is, like smatrix((0,0),(0,0)) (for example), is it possible to calculate spin polarized conductance from the term sigma_z_matrix.dot(ttdagger). With Regards, Sudin Ganguly
