I am looking at getting TkDND support into tkinter and have created issue40893, however, we are currently considering the practicalities of adding a new optional dependency to Python. Apologies if this is the wrong mailing-list, however, I was hoping you could help answer the question of: is there an existing procedure for this?
The problem is that package maintainers need to be notified of the change and edit the package details accordingly. If there was a procedure in place, I was hoping to also apply it to other third-party distributors of Python, with who we have a similar situation.
If there is no official way, I would really appreciate opinions as the current idea is just to make it very clear on the “what’s new” page (which would then add a fair amount of unneeded controversy).
