Actually, there was a request from Jim for during the day - which would mean weekend days for many of us - so possibly, if it wouldn't cause too much confusion, having (say) two meetings a month: one on a Saturday afternoon, and one on a weekday evening?
Regardless, I'll get in touch with Escape (which seems to work fairly well for most people) and see what the availability of rooms is like.

Hi Max,
I think it would be great to get this group going.
I tried to help Benet with this but I kind of stumbled on trying to find a place to hold meetings. I think it would be great if we could have them on campus - the business school has some rooms that would be great for this. The problem I ran into is that since I am no longer a student, I could not reserve a room. Maybe with you helping out, that could change.
The other thing that I think we should do is put up flyers (or whatever medium students use these days) around campus. My wife is a designer. I think I could get her to whip something up for us. I live out in the middle of nowhere. So if you could post them, that would be great.
Benet mentioned that the general thought in the past was to make these events more social - perhaps have them at a bar. I think it would be very difficult to discuss these things at a bar. So my preference would be to start the meeting in a quieter place, then migrate to a bar. The study pub at Fluno is pretty nice.
In any case, it would be nice to get to know you. I too am an entrepreneur. I use python all the time. I do a lot of work in Django.
Best,
Chuck

I like the idea of Escape or even a place like Mickey's if everyone
attending is 21 or over. Both are on Willy St. and both have good
areas to hang out and have a meet-up. Attendance has been so low, we
should give people another reason for going (like beer).

I've kinda stumbled on the meeting-place too. Well, full disclosure: also procrastinated. Life has been very busy and stressful for me in the past little while, and unfortunately organizing the group has ended up dropping off the map.
My current thought for meetings is Escape Java Joint, which is reasonably central and has rooms available for a fairly small fee. But meeting at the university, if someone could manage that - I think we probably need a faculty sponsor of some kind - would also be good.

The fourth-Tuesday slot has been pretty thoroughly trumped by the Web608 geek dinner (http://web608.org/). For the remainder of the year, I suggest that instead of meeting at the library, we should just merge with the geek dinner, given how small our attendance has been anyway.
For the New Year, the current thoughts are:
1) move to a different day, possibly during the day on the weekend
2) move to a venue with food/coffee/drink
3) have more scheduled presentations and such
So any thoughts about that are welcome.
