Re: [Madison] modest proposal: meet at geek dinner instead
Actually, there was a request from Jim for during the day - which would mean weekend days for many of us - so possibly, if it wouldn't cause too much confusion, having (say) two meetings a month: one on a Saturday afternoon, and one on a weekday evening? Regardless, I'll get in touch with Escape (which seems to work fairly well for most people) and see what the availability of rooms is like. I also think Escape would be a great place to meet.
Any ideas on what day of the week to meet and when we're going to get started? I would prefer weekdays - maybe Tuesday evenings?

As for flyers, there is a new mailing list for CS students that I could
spam.
I'm fine with any location. I might have difficulty getting anywhere
outside of the campus area (I live by the capitol). I'm also of age so a
bar is fine with me too.

I tried to help Benet with this but I kind of stumbled on trying to find
a place to hold meetings. I think it would be great if we could have them on
campus - the business school has some rooms that would be great for this.
The problem I ran into is that since I am no longer a student, I could not
reserve a room. Maybe with you helping out, that could change.
The other thing that I think we should do is put up flyers (or whatever
medium students use these days) around campus. My wife is a designer. I
think I could get her to whip something up for us. I live out in the middle
of nowhere. So if you could post them, that would be great.
Benet mentioned that the general thought in the past was to make these
events more social - perhaps have them at a bar. I think it would be very
difficult to discuss these things at a bar. So my preference would be to
start the meeting in a quieter place, then migrate to a bar. The study pub
at Fluno is pretty nice.
In any case, it would be nice to get to know you. I too am an
entrepreneur. I use python all the time. I do a lot of work in Django.
Best,
Chuck

Hey guys,
I was just seeing if there were any plans to start back up
the madpython group? I would be interested in getting to
know you guys. I'm an undergrad at UW starting a
startup and we use python extensively.. I love it.

I appreciate your concern for my request to hold meetings during the day, but if I'm the only one that prefers days, then its probably best to do evenings to accommodate the others. I may not be able to attend, but maybe the group could put out a summary of the meeting or at least announce the topic ahead of time so I can make arrangements to be there when the topic was something I was interested in. -Jim Benet Devereux wrote:
