[Bug 1067953] [NEW] Request: Add HTML support for message excerpt preview
Public bug reported: Many if not most people currently use HTML-formatted email. When list moderators have to approve email postings on the Administrative Requests page, only a plaintext Message Excerpt is displayed, making informed viewing of a list member's message sometimes next to impossible. Looking through the mailman discussion list archives, I see that this feature was asked for as far back as 2005 - 7 years ago, so this is not a "new" suggestion. This would be an extremely helpful feature to add. If there are security concerns, a toggle or config option could easily be added so HTML viewing is not the default, and/or java/javascript could be disabled in the preview window. Thank you for your consideration here. ** Affects: mailman Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: excerpt html preview request -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mailman Coders, which is subscribed to GNU Mailman. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067953 Title: Request: Add HTML support for message excerpt preview To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/1067953/+subscriptions
This won't happen in MM 2.1. The best you can do is set admin_immed_notify On and view the HTML rendering of the message attached to the moderation notice in your mail client. Something may be done in MM 3, but rendering untrusted HTML on your web site via a privileged CGI is not a very good idea. ** Changed in: mailman Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: mailman Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mailman Coders, which is subscribed to GNU Mailman. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067953 Title: Request: Add HTML support for message excerpt preview To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/1067953/+subscriptions
