I agree -- in principle this really is giving away more info than it should, e.g. if I suspect that someone is subscribed to a list, I can use this "feature" to verify my suspicion. If an address somehow is present in `passwords', but not in `members', the result would be as you describe. I think you'd have to tweak the list's config.db by hand (e.g. using bin/withlist) to fix this. I wonder whether such inconsistencies could be caused by the mixed-case-address bug which I _think_ was still in there in 1.0b8... Anyway, I guess all of this will be redone after 1.0 with the user object database and all. -- Harald

my recent checkins

Not much time, but I went ahead and checked in both changes for which I sent patches about. Having run python.org on these patches for about a day, and esp. over the new month, I feel that they at least don't make things worse. Performance on python.org has gotten /dramatically/ better. I've yet to see a cpu pegged at 100% for more than about 2 minutes, and load averages look much better now (usually <1 where they were consistantly running in the 6-7 range). -Barry

It probably needs to be massaged some more (I somehow suspect that MSWord doesn't create the prettiest HTML in the world, and the web version should probably be split into several files) before going into the distribution, but it is very much better than *no* documentation! If anyone still have any faith at all in whatever guesstimates us core developers give on the 1.0 release date, I'd say that it should be out this summer -- let me know if you think that wasn't vague enough :) -- Harald
