Thanks for all new stuff in mailman2.1a3; it looks really good. I installed it ~mailman2 and on a different web server than our production version. Here are a few comments: - after the installation of email package, the test - as recommended by INSTALL - returns email.__version__ 0.92 (and not 0.93). - no problems with the compilation (irix6.5) - directory permissions were right, except for ~mailman2/messages and mailman2/templates (no g+w permission). - loading of the pages seems slow, but it may be a local problem - the only real problem was setting the web page url correctly. what happened is that I wanted the test version to use mailman2.domain ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ as default url. I created a list, mailman2-test, and everything looked good - messages got posted and archived - except for the urls in the List-* headers which said something like: List-Subscribe: <http://domain/mailman/listinfo/mailman2-test> ^^^^^^ (and which pointed to another web server) I tried many things (HOST and URL variables for configure, DEFAULT_URL and DEFAULT_URL_HOST in mm_cfg.py, and add_virtualhost hack (which I don't understand)) but nothing helped. What *did* help was to reread NEWS, find reference to bin/fix_url.py, and find in it a comment which told me to run bin/withlist -l -r fix_url <list> :-) - loading of the pages seems slow, but it may be a local problem. My test setup is at http://mailman2.daimi.au.dk/mailman/listinfo. I'm using it for trying out new options etc. You are welcome to use it for testing as well! Kaja

mailman 2.0.6 problem

I install Mailman 2.0.6 on a p600 10gb hard drive, 128mb, with RED HAT 7.2. The web interface works fine, I just can't receive email from the lists, when I subscribe a user they do receive a welcome message, but when they try to post a message to the list it's never received by any of the list members. The message does not even show up in the /mailman/qfiles and the /mailman/logs report nothing. The logs will only report when someone subscribes, (which are logs in /home/mailman/logs/smtp and /home/mailman/logs/subscribe, nothing is in the /home/mailman/logs/error log file). I'm using SENDMAIL -8.11.6-3. I have the wrapper set in /etc/smrsh so that's not an issue. There is no error with the MAIL GID being unknown. Here's what I receive in the /mailman/logs/smtp Oct 25 12:22:33 2001 (1888) smtp for 1 recips, completed in 0.058 seconds The /var/log/maillog logfile also does not report any errors. Any solutions? I've been reading RFC 2822 on the subject of Reply-To and noticed that the content of Reply-To is a list. ie you can have more than one address listed under a Reply-To: reply-to = "Reply-To:" address-list CRLF address-list = (address *("," address)) / obs-addr-list address = mailbox / group mailbox = name-addr / addr-spec name-addr = [display-name] angle-addr angle-addr = [CFWS] "<" addr-spec ">" [CFWS] / obs-angle-addr group = display-name ":" [mailbox-list / CFWS] ";" [CFWS] display-name = phrase mailbox-list = (mailbox *("," mailbox)) / obs-mbox-list eg: Reply-To: list(a)foo.conm, list(a)bar.com, claw(a)kanga.nu This would seem to potentially remove one of the complaints on Reply-To: lists -- that they nix/kill crossposting, and lose the actual semantic value of the original Reply-To header. Yeah, I found this one last night. Fixed in CVS. Reusing mailman login/pass or cookie ?

I've developped a few php scripts for the users of some of my lists, what I need is to have only users effectively subscribed and authenticated to the lists to be able to use the scripts. I also need to know what is the user's login in the php scripts. Is there a way to do that , either by reproducing the mailman auth process in php or by reusing the mailman cookie ? Anyone has already done that or knows of a way to do that ? thanks

Hi! I started a mailman list. When I added a person, I added unfortunatelly with his name. On the member list apear the e-mail address follow by a space and follow by a name. The person couldn't use the list. I, as the owner can't to remove this faild address and replace with the working address. I asked you, if you could suggest me a solution for this problem.
