auto discard doesn't seem to work as expected.

I now tried to set non member posts to auto-discard. If I do not set forward_auto_discards, it works as intended. First, of all, I'd like to say that I really like many of the changes in improvements in mailman cvs, some of them will same me a lot of time with not having to deal with confused users anymore :-) I however, have 3 items left on my wishlist :-) #1 Very big feature request: The main list admin's cookie should be valid for all the lists. Having to retype the list password over and over again as I hop from list to list is very tiring. #2 Is there any way to have mailman still understand admin password in crypt/md5 format? It could read them and only generate the new kind. User Database Wish List Feature Suggestion

Since you will be changing the user database - why not add some date fields - like - date joined - maybe date the user last modified their account - and the last date the sent an email message. It would also be nice if it stored some counters - like the number of messages sent - maybe the number of messages sent in the last month. Master stats would also be nice - messages sent through the list - number of megabytes of transfer - total and monthly.

Future: Safe Auto-moderated Announce List

I see the basic "how do I let the right people post to this announce list automatically" question often enough to indicate that there is a perceived need. Let's put digital signature technology to work. For some post 2.1 release (and probably patchable into 2.1 by suitable people), extend the privacy options to include: List (two columns...duplicate senders probably allowed for the case of a work key and a home key or an assistant's key for authorized forging, or whatever): Automatically post messages from these senders PROVIDED they are digitally signed using the key listed for the sender. Checkbox: Automatically and silently reject (with logging) any message not from a listed sender and properly signed. Variations (not silently rejected, etc, if desired...but sending a rejection message gives the would-be rogue poster information). It seems to me that this can be turned into a suitable solution to the auto-moderated announce list desire, without a whole lot of coding. But in my testing it does not, and adding parentheses fixes it. I'm too lazy to research further, as I believe the parens should be there every time there's potential confusion. mail -> news gateway does not work

Duplicates, mostly

Hey folks, Having just spent a good few weeks with a crowbar retrofitting Mailman to our hideous old Majordomo setup, it all appears to be working rather nicely. There is only one exception... dreaded duplicates. I noticed a patch posted a few months back (by Ben Gerzfield) for the CVS version, but given that this is a production system for a large client I'd prefer to keep it stable. Is there any way this duplicate avoidance can be easily grafted on to 2.0.8? Cheers, James
