Hello, removing the dependency of jQuery in django-mailman3, Postorius and maybe in Hyperkitty will allow Postorius to load faster in browsers - less data (JavaScript) is transferred from webserver to webclient, less code is parsed and interpreted by the browser. Removing the dependency on jQuery is a big change, which can be split into smaller steps. [GSoC 2026] Question regarding generic template fallback support in Mailman Core

Dear Mailman Developers, I hope you are doing well. I am currently contributing to Postorius and working on a merge request related to improving documentation for template fallback behavior (MR link: https://gitlab.com/mailman/postorius/-/merge_requests/1063). While implementing this, I added support for displaying list:member:generic:header and list:member:generic:footer in the UI, assuming these are valid fallback templates used by Mailman Core. However, the CI pipeline is failing during tests that attempt to create these templates via Mailman Core, which suggests that these template names may not be recognized or supported. I wanted to clarify: - Does Mailman Core officially support list:member:generic:* templates as valid template names? - If yes, is there any additional configuration required to make them available? - If not, should Postorius only reference them in documentation (as fallback behavior) without exposing them as selectable templates? Question Regarding Test Coverage Pipeline Error

Hello Developers, I have a question and hope you can help me understand this issue. I am receiving the following pipeline error <https://gitlab.com/itsPronay/mailman/-/jobs/13246197389>: “src/mailman/interfaces/bans.py (100%) src/mailman/model/bans.py (90.0%): Missing lines 124” 1. Previously, I was not getting this error. The pipeline failure only started appearing after I rebased my branch with master. Why was I not getting this error before but now? Everything is the same (other than the bans.rst file) 2. As mentioned in the error, it says that test coverage is missing for line 124 in the bans.py file. However, lines 110 and 124 are the same. I would like to understand why I am not getting an error for line 110, even though I am getting one for line 124. I have attached screenshots for reference. These questions might be very basic, but I would really appreciate understanding why this is happening, as I have switched to Python recently. Hello everyone, I’m Sanskar, and I’ve recently started exploring the Mailman 3 projects to get a solid understanding of how the suite is structured across Mailman Core, Postorius, and HyperKitty. I’ve been tracing how list state, moderation actions, and archived messages flow between the Core APIs and the Django applications, and getting familiar with the conventions each component follows. Hello Mailman Developers, My name is Ayush Kumar Jha, and I am interested in contributing to GNU Mailman as a prospective GSoC 2026 participant. I have prior experience working with Python and contributing to open-source projects. In particular, I have actively contributed to SymPy, where I worked on multiple improvements and enhancements. Through this experience, I have developed a strong understanding of Python, writing clean and maintainable code, collaborating through Git workflows, reviewing discussions, and following open-source contribution best practices. I have recently started exploring the Mailman 3 repositories on GitLab to better understand the overall architecture, components (such as Mailman Core), and the development workflow. I am currently going through the documentation and codebase to familiarize myself with the project structure. I would greatly appreciate guidance on beginner-friendly issues or specific areas within Mailman Core or related components where new contributors can start contributing effectively. Prospective GSoC student - Need Help Understanding Pipeline Failure on First PR

Hello, I am Pronay Sarker. I managed to solve a “good first issue” and submitted a PR. However, the pipelines are failing, and I’m unable to figure out why. On GitHub, when we click on the pipelines, it usually shows the log trace explaining exactly why it failed. But here, that doesn’t seem to be the case. When I clicked on the pipeline and went to the job section, it was empty. So I’m unable to determine the reason for the failure. Without knowing why it’s failing, I won’t be able to fix it.
