There, for a potential subscriber user@example.org a DNS query for example.com.zen.spamhaus.org is generated.

As you note, line 1546 of Utils.py should be

lookup = '%s.dbl.spamhaus.org' % (domain)

This is now reported at https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/1779774 and will be fixed.
