I'm not sure I agree. But that's the point -- because it's not easy or obvious is no reason not to try. And because it's not likely to be a 100% soilution is no reason to not do what you can.
I never understood why mailman wasn't changed to allow users to change there own addresses years ago. Being able to add valid receiving addresses would help, too. That is also something mailman can help with.
All it takes is code. Volunteering? (grin)
