I'm all for the password-less stuff, but then how do you authenticate for members-only archives? I've got big lists that must be members-only for the archives.
Most of the user operations should be done by confirmation string sent by email message.
Operations include authentication.
So, to access the private archive I have to wait for an email message?
Hmm, there was some plan for LDAP integration for version 3.0, no?
What I'm hoping for is that people who subscribe to my lists with a sussex.ac.uk email address will be able to authenticate from our LDAP server. This avoids mailman having to store their passwords.
With support for a variety of external authentication mechanisms, Mailman can become a much more useful tool for Universities and large corporations.
