The mailing list is the envelope sender of mail sent to the list. For example the envelope sender of the mail to which this is a reply is
mailman-developers-bounces@python.org
which is correct and compliant with the standards. A standards compliant MTA will send any DSN (Delivery Status Notice) to that address.

If any mail is rejected or bounced (ie, initially accepted for delivery but later a DSN is returned indicating a delivery failure) then that is a delivery failure. If you do not like what your receiving mail systems reject or bounce that is not a Mailman problem.
