Mailman Arabic translation is ready
Hi, It's my pleasure to contribute an Arabic translation of mailman. I will polish it more and complete the missing strings in the near future. Please commit it and let me know the procedure of updating/merging the template files when changes occur. Hope there is a way other than doing a manual compare.
The add_language line should read: add_language('ar', _('Arabic'), 'utf-8')

You should send it to Barry Warsaw barry -at- python dot org but since I did this I hadn't receieved any confirmation and still the translation is not committed so I am not sure.

You can leave a copy in the SourceForge patch tracker so that it doesn't get lost. It also makes it so that all of the maintainers (and even motivated users wanting to try it before it is officially adopted) have access to it. http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=103&atid=300103

Thanks to both Munzir and Jim, and to Mihaly who told me this separately.
I'd never had an orphaned completed translation before! Usually, people snap them up fast!
I'll update it to the latest release, and submit it today. :)
I still think we need a wiki (or similar) information page for translators, and would be willing to put time into it. Mihaly has made some good suggestions.

Very soon we will probably have a much nicer wiki for Mailman. I plan on posting about this and other developments to mailman-developers within a few days. I'm sorry I haven't personally had time to integrate these patches, but I'm trying to devote what spare time I have to improving the project so more people can get involved. As proven by Tokio's and Mark's excellent contributions, there are lots of really talented folks out in the community and I think we're under-utilizing them. My goal for 2006 is to improve that situation.

That's OK: I said I'd do them, so I wanted to get them done. ;)
