Does anyone have the setup for working with a different archive engine? Strange intermittent problem: [Returned mail: unknown mailer error 1 (fwd)\] (fwd)\]

Occasionally, I get the following error from one of our high traffic lists. It seems to ignore that one of our lists exists, and bounces the mail. Any ideas? Install question

Hi all Sorry about this newbie question, but now that I have downloaded and installed the GNU software, what do I do with the mailman_tar.gz file? WINZIP is asking me for the correct extension of the file I want to unzip. If I try .exe, it does not work...... I am trying to install on NT server 4. Brian, I had complaints about something similar this month during the monthly mailing of the "password reminder" messages. A few users contacted me saying that they'd received more than one reminder, and since the reminders are rather annoying anyway, they were doubly annoyed. I'm not a "Python-head", so I really don't have much of a clue as to what investigation would need to be done to hunt this one down. Assuming that I installed everything correctly, the file permissions should be handled by mailman itself w/o any problems, right? Anyway, I manually did this (chmod *.txt.gz in $prefix/archives/public/<list> ) ... works ok .. till somebody posts the next message .. where Mailman chmod 600 the file :( What am I doing wrong here? duplicate messages sent

I've never had this happen before but it happened this morning. A message was sent to the mailing list, and many people on the list got the message twice (but not everyone). I'm suspecting something gone wrong in the dividing up of the mail into batches. The system is running Slackware 3.2, Mailman 1.0rc1, Python 1.51. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?
